The idea behind the album Summer of Cumbia,
was for a family (husband, expectant wife, and her brother) to pass
the summer cheaply by having fun and making music and art.
After working their day jobs, the members would get together
for dinner at 6pm and then work in the studio writing and recording
until 10pm.
On June 1, 2009, the as yet unnamed group met together for
the first time to see what would happen. The first song they came up
with was "La iguana" Tracking and vocals were done on the first
night and overdubs and mixing was completed on the next night.
The group had fun creating La iguana, and decided that they
should try another song. That song was "Taco Tuesdays" As they were
working on the song, the group felt that they were tapping into
something special. The air in the studio was electric and the song
practically wrote itself. "Taco Tuesdays" also baptized the members
with new names: El Mero Mero, Trixie and El Sabroso.
Next the group wrote "La cumbia del verano"....[more
soon....]
